The Ming Dynasty Tibetan-style gilt bronze Green Tara depicting the Dharmachakra Mudra is an exceptionally rare portrayal. With its rich gilt finish well-preserved, this statue exemplifies the pinnacle of gilt craftsmanship. Green Tara is depicted with the youthful countenance of a maiden, adorned with a five-leaf crown in petal-shaped design, accentuating the height of the headgear and the high bun, with cascading hair falling over her shoulders like undulating waves. Her face radiates sweetness and charm, enhanced by the application of mudra gold, maintaining an aura of grace and solemnity. The facial features are full, with arched eyebrows resembling crescent moons, downward-looking eyes, prominent cheeks, and a straight nose bridge. The overall expression is dignified yet carries a feminine allure, exuding compassion and kindness as she gazes upon sentient beings. Adorned with bangles on her wrists and anklets on her feet, Green Tara is embellished with elaborate jewelry and floral motifs, including pearl necklaces and chains. The lower body is clad in form-fitting trousers, fashioned from cast bronze. Her hands form the Dharmachakra Mudra, with the thumb touching the index finger, while the remaining fingers extend, creating a dynamic gesture. The branches of the Ubarala flowers on her shoulders are depicted with lush foliage, symbolizing grandeur, while the lotus buds on either side evoke delicacy and purity.
