The Qing Dynasty gilt-standing statue of the rare Wealth Bestowing Tara. Tara, also known as Vasudhara in Sanskrit and Jampelyang in Tibetan, is revered as the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and abundance. Her worship has ancient roots, likely originating from early Indian mythology. She is also a popular figure in Tibetan iconography, often depicted as a benefactor of wealth and abundance.

As a consort of wealth deities, Tara holds a prominent place in the Vajrayana tradition, particularly within the Wealth Deity Tantra. She is regarded as the embodiment of prosperity and is associated with the accumulation and distribution of wealth in the human realm. In Tibetan Buddhism, Tara is revered as one of the Five Wealth Deities, making her highly esteemed among Tibetan devotees.

This statue of Wealth Bestowing Tara features a five-leafed jeweled crown adorned with intricate carvings. Her hair is elegantly arranged, with a broad forehead and a rounded face. Her eyebrows are arched, and her eyes gaze downward with a gentle expression. She wears earrings, and a celestial scarf flows around her ears in a circular fashion.

In her right hand, she holds a fruit symbolizing wealth, while her left hand holds a mongoose spewing jewels from its mouth, representing the abundance of wealth. She is adorned with necklaces, earrings, and other ornaments, with flowing scarves cascading naturally down her sides. She wears a thin skirt, the hem of which hangs gracefully between her legs.

The entire statue, including the background, accessories, long skirt, and pedestal, is meticulously gilded, adding to its opulence. This statue, from the personal collection of a senior practitioner, is exceptionally rare and exudes an aura of abundance, making it highly esteemed among collectors.
