The Kadam Pagoda is a type of pagoda that features a bell-shaped bowl. It is said that this kind of pagoda was introduced to Tibet by the eminent Indian monk Atisha in the 11th century when he came to Tibet to teach Buddhism. Because it was popular in the Kadam sect temple founded by Atisha's disciple Zhongdunpa, it is commonly known as the "Kadam pagoda".
