Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, located in Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region today, was built in 1447. Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is also a center of Tibetan art. It is one of the sculpture art schools in Tibet. It reached its peak in the 17th century and its influence still exists today. This statue of the Yellow Jambhala is small in size and is a portable Buddha. The Yellow Jambhala wears a five-leaf corolla, a gourd-shaped bun on top of his head, and the top of the bun is decorated with branches. The remaining hair is braided and hangs down on both shoulders. There are crown knots and drooping rings on the ears. The face is plump and round, with a flat nose and wide mouth. The eyebrows are upturned in an inverted figure eight shape, and the eyes are round. The face seems a little sullen, but it also reveals calmness and majesty. The body is obese, the lower abdomen is round, and the limbs are short and thick. The upper body is naked, only covered with light silk fabrics, and decorated with necklaces and necklaces. The ribbons are placed on both sides of the arms, floating up like flames to set off the luxurious aura of the Yellow Jambhala. The left hand is gently caressing the treasure-vomiting rat on the knee. The official name of this beast is the weasel. Legend has it that it is a spiritual beast that swallows treasures. After being subdued by the Yellow Jambhala, it became his assistant in giving money. The right hand holds a peach-shaped orb. The rosette part is even more outstanding, and the lotus petals are the high relief of the crown. There is an original base plate at the bottom, and the cross diamond in the middle firmly protects the internal decoration. Although this is a portable Buddha, it feels heavy and well preserved. Yellow Jambhala are not uncommon, but the inch Buddha is rare. The details of this statue are full of the Tashi Lhunpo style, and it is a must-see for collectors.
