About the Design

This ring was not made to disappear. It was made to hold attention.
The form is a coiled serpent cast from a single piece of thokcha iron, wrapping around the finger with the head and tail meeting at the top to form an adjustable opening. The sculpture is fully three-dimensional, with detailed scale texture, recessed eyes, and a defined serpent head that gives the piece a strong physical presence.
The surface carries two distinct tones at once: deep oxidized iron in the recesses and a natural gold-cream patina across the raised areas of the serpent’s body. The contrast follows the scale pattern itself, creating movement across the form as light shifts over the ring.
The iron remains dark, dense, and slightly irregular, preserving the hand-finished character of thokcha material.
In Tibetan and Himalayan tradition, the serpent or nāga is associated with protection, hidden wealth, and the threshold between visible and unseen worlds. Combined with thokcha iron — a material long used in ritual protection objects — the ring carries both symbolic and material weight.
